May in pictures

Mothers Day 2010
The flower trees finally bloomed!

Watching the cars go by.
They were quite distracting as I was trying to get him to look at the camera.

Jared has learned to pull himself up.
He can only do it if he is already in sitting position but he will grab our shirts or the couch or the grocery cart. Anything really.
I think when we move we will have to lower the mattress. He is getting so strong.

PETS!
This is my brother Derek's band and he and Allison made Jared this Onesie for Christmas.
I like how he is pointing to the animal on the shirt. Clever little boy.

Ready for church.
As you may have noticed in other pictures of Jared his hair has a hard time laying flat (see above picture) so one Sunday Mark slicked it down. I couldn't believe how different Jared looked!

Home Sweet Home

Mark and I now own 1520 square feet in Colorado Springs!

We put an offer on this townhome back in February (surprise!) and finally closed on it today. I have been wanting to write about it for a long time but since it was a short sale I didn't want to celebrate too soon. We think it will be a great fit for us for the next few years (3 bedrooms and 3 baths if you didn't click on the link) and we got locked into an intrest rate of 4.75% which is amazing from what I am told, historic even. We are super excited! Be prepared for lots of decorating pictures too come in the next couple of months.

beeps, smells, and standing up and getting stuck

Beep...30 seconds later... Beep... 30 seconds later...Beep...30 seconds later...Beep.

This is what awoke me at 12:36 this morning. Apparently the battery in the smoke alarm in our bedroom is dying and it is doing its best to be the most annoying sound before it goes. I heard this noise this morning and when I woke up I swear our bedroom looked hazy so I jumped out of bed to go check the kitchen to make sure everything was turned off and that there weren't flames anywhere. There was not. Its funny the tricks your mind plays on you. It is not funny to hear this oh so annoying chirp every 30 seconds, yes as I laid awake I timed it. Every 30 seconds.

I knew I was not going to be able to sleep in our room so I grabbed a blanket and my pillows and went to the front room to try to sleep on our couch. I laid down and then 5 minutes later Mark comes out with his pillows and our comforter. Mark is a very tall person (6' 3 to be exact) so you can imagine how comfortable we were sharing the couch. Mark took the battery out of the alarm and it still beeped! We tried turning the fans on high, putting a towel between the door frame and carpet, turning on the bathroom light that has a really loud fan and we could still hear the beep. It is still going as I type. I called the maintenance people and sincerely hope they arrive soon!! BEEP!

Smells. Our neighbors are cooking something that smells disgusting!!! I am sure they will love it but I do not. I got a cold last weekend (and then unfortunately passed it on to Jared, he has been a very sad boy) and have had an incredibly stuffy nose and I can smell it clearly. YUCK! It is the people who live behind us and so their kitchen is connected to out walk in closet or something and I really hope that all our clothes do not smell like whatever it is they are cooking.

Getting stuck.
Jared loves to stand! This past week he has even pulled himself up into a standing position a few times. There have been occasions where he is sitting on our laps and he grabs the couch or his playmat and pulls himself up. He just loves to do it. We have this toy that he will grab onto the white part and then pull himself up part way and then he gets stuck. He is half sitting half standing and can't get back down. If I leave to go get something in a different room I hear this little cry for help to get him down. Its sort of funny. But probably pretty frustrating for him. He still does not seem too interested in crawling. Which is fine by me because he is much easier to look after if he is not moving places.

I think it is time for Jared and I to go run some errands because this apartment is currently driving me crazy!

Isn't it the truth?

Yesterday I was helping the Primary Presidency get things ready for Mother's Day (I am the new "Primary Assistant" that's what happens when you have 100+ kids in primary one secretary is not enough). They asked me to glue the quote into the cards the kids are going to give out and after I read it I wanted to share it on here.

"I don't want to drive up to the pearly gates in a shiny sports car, wearing beautifully, tailored clothes, my hair expertly coiffed, and with long, perfectly manicured fingernails.

I want to drive up in a station wagon that has mud on the wheels from taking kids to Scout camp.
I want to be there with a smudge of peanut butter on my shirt from making sandwiches for a sick neighbors children.
I want to be there with a little dirt under my fingernails from helping to weed someones garden.
I want to be there with children's sticky kisses on my cheeks and the tears of a friend on my shoulder.
I want the Lord to know that I was really here and that I really lived."

Sister Hinckley.

Happy Mother's Day to you all!

Happy - Sad

About three weeks ago I very sadly lost my wedding ring! I have no idea where it could have gone. I looked all over our apartment and car to no avail. I even looked in the most ridiculous places (like the flour container) where I knew it couldn't be. If you have experienced this you know it is a really awful feeling. I feel So TERRIBLE!
Luckily for me I married Mark and we had a baby last year so we had a generous tax return. So last Monday, on the 6 year anniversary of when Mark proposed to me. Mark bought me beautiful flowers and a new ring. The setting of my original ring was nowhere to be found but he did choose a wonderful new one.

It has proven very difficult to get a good picture of it so here is link if you really want to see it.

AND just for fun....

JARED!
SO CUTE!
