Before Thanksgiving she was only regularly saying Mommy, No, Yeah, Daddy, Eyes, and knee so a huge increase. There may even be more that I am forgetting. It's fun. She also knows and says a lot of animal sounds. She makes sounds for the following animals: duck, sheep, cat, cow, horse, monkey, lion, tiger, bee, giraffe, dog, chicken, (I think thats her favorite whenever we have chicken for dinner she grabs pieces and makes them walk across her tray saying: " Bawk, Bawk".) She loves to open and close her arms like an alligator.
Around Thanksgiving she also decided she was ready to be potty trained so we happily started working on that with her. I had planned on training her when she turned two but she just took it upon herself to learn. We bought her a little toilet seat and some underwear and off she went. I think once the toilet seat was bought it really motivated her because she could sit by herself. She still wears a diaper at night and during her nap but when she is awake she is in her underwear and staying dry and clean. We didn't really start training her till after Thanksgiving and since then she has 5 - 6 accidents. She doesn't mind using public restrooms and does very well telling us when she needs to go. We never even did a potty chart or treats like we did with Jared. We just had her practice sitting on her little toilet insert for about a week before we put her in underwear and she would often go pee when we were just practicing. At first we timed how often we took her but now we just let her tell us when she needs to go (although we do still ask her frequently because it is kind of nerve-wracking) which to me is more of a sign she is confident. Often we let her pick an Elmo video to watch after she goes poo. Have you seen all the Elmo music videos where he sings with a celebrity? They are hilarious. Her favorite is "New Way to Walk"with Destiny's Child. I love the Adam Sandler one and Feist singing #4. Jared loves Letter N with Ricky Gervais. It was so painless! It's awesome and so is she.
December 07 2013, First day wearing her new underwear.
There was a lot of this the first days. Her saying "potty" then running to the bathroom with Mark or I following.
Today as we were getting ready to leave for church she walked into our bathroom (where I was finishing up getting ready) with her blanket and said "Nap? Nap?" Poor little girl. Sundays are so hard for her since we have church from 1 - 4. Thankfully this is the last torturous week and next week we will go from 9 -12. Hallelujah. She is such a sweet special girl.
