A Shout Out!

To these fabulous ladies,

Our fabulous Mom's were such a help to us!  They cleaned our house, did our laundry, made wonderful meals, entertained Jared and let me take naps whenever I wanted.  It was so wonderful to have their help.  I am so glad they could come out and spend time with Jared and get to meet Lydia.

  THANKS SO MUCH FOR EVERYTHING!

While Mark's Mom was here she made these super cute letters for Lydia's room.  She had leftover fabric from Lydia's quilt she made so she covered the letters with it.  I love them.  She also recovered our rocking chair so now  it matches the rest of the room.  The fabric was old and yucky and now it looks wonderful.

We're so lucky to have such sweet generous Mom's! And Jared and Lydia are lucky to have them as Grandmas.

And I am lucky to have such sweet kids!

Valentines Day 2012

We had such a fun day today! Valentines Day with a cute two year old is super fun.  We made so many Valentine art projects the last two weeks and had lots of treats and heart games.  Awhile back I made a Valentine mix of songs and Jared and I had quite the dance party.  We were rocking out. I keep trying to get a video of him him dancing but it has not worked out yet.  I think the favorites were the puffy paint painting and M&M hunt. Mark and I went out last week while his Mom was still here which was really nice. He bought me beautiful roses and "You've Got Mail" one of my all time favorite movies.  I have been looking for it for awhile and am happy to now own it. We watched it last week and it just made me smile.

Here are some highlights of the day:

Jared's Valentine gift: a box of over 1,000 CARS stickers.  He was one happy kid.

 Pink Puffy Paint.
1/4 cup Elmer's Glue
3/4 cups Shaving Cream
Food Coloring

What was so great about this project was the 45 minutes Jared spent playing in it after we finished his heart.  He loved it! As did I.

Heart Shaped sandwich bites. I have never seen Jared eat a peanut butter and jelly sandwich so fast.

Valentine Rolo Pretzels.  So fast and easy and pretty addictive as well. I just didn't quite think I should attempt sugar cookies yet.

 Our Valentine Italian dinner.
I love these dishes. I need to start taking them out at the beginning of the month not just Valentines Day.

♥ADORABLE KIDS ♥

Hope you all had some fun today too.

The Temple!

When Lydia and I came home from the hospital we told Jared he and Daddy were going to go on a special outing together.  Since Mark and I had been at the hospital all week he hadn't gotten out much.  We figured he would say he wanted to go to a park or the library but we were wrong. When asked where he wanted to go he said "The Temple!" It was really cute and fun.  So when Mark drove to Denver to pick up his Mom they stopped at the Denver Temple. This was the first time Jared had been to a temple.  We have a picture of the Oakland Temple in our living room and he has heard us talk about it when we were planning on going but we did not expect him to say that was where he wanted to go.
Mark took his mom back to the airport today (so now we get to try our hand at this parenting 2 kids thing by ourselves wish us luck...) and so they stopped at the temple again. Jared was pretty excited.  I love that kid!

Happy 2 weeks!

Yesterday was Lydia's 2 week mark! I would have posted this yesterday but I had to spend 4 hours in the ER (see previous post) so that kind of changed my plans. Two weeks is kind of  a milestone for me so its great to be here.
Lydia is such a sweetheart.  She is so peaceful and content. We are so lucky!  We had some crazy spit up moments where I was afraid (paranoid really) that she had reflux but she is doing much better. I think her stomach has matured a bit and I took chocolate out of my diet (too bad we just bought 3 boxes of Girl Scout Tag-A- Long Cookies I am going to request that Mark buy me some lemon ones) since most articles suggest doing so if your baby is really spitting up and she seems to be doing much better.  Sometimes I think the Internet is sort of a curse because there is so much information that it makes me paranoid.  But really Lydia is an all star.
We went to the breastfeeding clinic last Tuesday when she was  a week old and she weighed 7.9 pounds.  We went again today and she is at 8 pounds!  So she is doing great so I am going to stop worrying about reflux and just enjoy my super sweet little girl.  We have her two week check up on Thursday so it will be nice to weigh her again.

And here is my adorable family!

I know these pictures are really similar but I love them both!

Jared loves Lydia SO much! It's adorable.

The ER

Yesterday I had to go to the Emergency Room for the first time in my adult life.  I hope I never have to go again.  I went to the bathroom in the evening and passed a huge blood clot.  It was between the size of a golf ball and a tennis ball. BIG! I was told when I was discharged from the hospital that if I passed a blood clot larger then a golf ball I needed to call the doctor.  Since it was after 7:00 I called and the triage nurse told me I had to go to the ER.  Mark was at a meeting (go figure) so I called my neighbor/good friend and she drove me over.  I was there from 8:00 pm - 12:00 am. I really didn't feel sick at all.  I wasn't sore or bleeding anymore.  As I sat in the waiting room listening to all the other people I felt really ridiculous being there.  They were vomiting, moaning in pain and miserable.  So I sat there and waited.  Eventually I got into a room and they started an IV, did an ultrasound, a neurological test and pelvic exam ( so awful! I despise pelvic exams!!) And after 3 hours they said I was fine and could go home!  Then it took them an hour to write a prescription and discharge me.  It was so long. So sure I am THANKFUL that there were no serious problems but I felt so silly being there when I felt fine and I didn't love paying the 200$ deductible. I did pass out last Thursday but that is not that unusual for me to pass out. I went through this crazy phase in college where I was passing out fairly regularly so I didn't think much of it.  Jared and I were making banana bread and all of a sudden I felt light headed so I sat down and then I said to Sue (my mother in law) that I thought I was going to pass out and then I woke up on the floor.  It's such a weird feeling.  I felt awful because it really scared Jared.  Now anytime I go near our step ladder Jared says "Mommy, fall!" It's sad.
The people at the ER were pretty nice and all but man they are not super efficient/helpful.  It got to be really stressful.  Towards the end a nurse came in and was going to put some anti nauseous medicine in my IV and I lost it.  I said "what are you going to do to me that I need anti nausea medicine?"  And he said "You can say no its your choice" but I was so confused as to why they wanted to give it to me and he wouldn't tell me anything.  It was so annoying.  The nurses/technicians were so closed mouth and it was so obnoxious.  I know they are just doing their job but really its my body and I really wanted to know what was going on.  They didn't even tell me to restrict my activities, just do what I feel I can.  Which is good because I would have gone crazy if they said I needed to be on bed rest or something similar to it.  I asked if I needed to come back if it happened again today and they said No, just call your doctor to see if they want to see you sooner. Like I said, I did feel silly being there.
I really hope I do not have to go back ever again! The best part was that they weighed me so now I know that since Lydia has been born I have "lost" 22 pounds! (thanks to the 7.2 she was)"  Its amazing.  I gained exactly 30 so just 10 more to go.  That was a perk about last night and yes knowing that everything is okay is a plus too.
