Camping at Big Bend Colorado

I love to go camping. Not serious, go for three days, pack your stuff in camping but driving in and setting up a camp and staying overnight camping where there is a bathroom nearby it doesn't have to have running water but 4 walls is a plus. So we drove up to Big Bend, Colorado Friday after school and spent the night. It was great. The drive up was beautiful we were about 1 week early to really see the change in the leaves but we decided that we will just go on a drive for the next 2 weeks so we can see the progression, that really should not surprise anyone and expect to see LOTS of pictures. I love love love the fall. Our campground was really clean and right by a river. There were hardly any other people camping there and it was nice and quiet. It was great to see so many stars and hear the river flowing behind us. We had a campfire (whats the point of going camping if you can't have a campfire?), and Mark made these great tin-foil dinners, we had hot chocolate and popcorn and Smore's not your traditional graham cracker, marshmallow chocolate bar Smore's but marshmallows in between chocolate covered peanut-butter filled cookies Smore's they are so good and so much easier. It was such a fun night! It was really really cold but still well worth it. The next morning we went on a short nature walk and then drove up the canyon to check other campsites and to see amazing leaves. It was so nice to get away and see part of Colorado especially since it is known for having great outdoor places to go , I agree it does!

Our Campsite

Our Tin-Foil Dinners that turned out great. Mark did such a good job

Aprillee with her hot chocolate the next morning, it was really really cold!

On our "nature walk" it was fun to be right by the river. Every time I saw someone fly fishing I thought of my dad and Susanna and Ryan. We could all have so much fun! (Not that I would fish much but I would definitely go camping!

I love the fall! Seeing the leaves change is so nice, look for many many more pictures to come.

Our Apartment.

Front Room, our friend Bethany who is so kind, is letting us borrow her couches while she is in Egypt for one more year. Thanks Beth!

By the way, we got that TV stand for 15 dollars and the TV was free, from Mark's brother. Such a deal!

The Kitchen, is quite small but it does work now, when we got here we went to the store and bought so much meat (particularly pork chops, we definitely missed them) and put it in the freezer. The freezer was strangely not "freezing" but we just figured it had been unplugged so we just needed to wait, NOT it so wasn't working and all the meat was spoiled. Annoying! We felt like we were back in Egypt although, our apt was pretty great there. But now it works great.

Bedroom, we did miss our bed while we were in Egypt

We do really like our apartment. It is in a great location. We have a second bedroom but it still has some boxes in it so I didn't worry about putting a picture up although, we found this great desk. We needed to get one and the one we liked were more than we wanted to spend. We went to Office Depot and were talking with the manager and he said that there was a desk they had had in the back since the store opened in 2006 that they couldn't sell. (I think it was because they never had it on display so no one ever saw it duh?) So he said he would give it to us for a great price. The original price was 200 dollars which we would never pay for a desk, and we got it for 74. Good thing we got all those bargaining skills in Cairo!

SHOES!

I love shoes! Before we left Egypt I got rid of a lot of my shoes, they were pretty much worn out and had seen many things. So now that its been raining (hooray!) and getting cold I really needed some real shoes, sandals were not going to work. I wasn't having any luck finding any and then yesterday, success! We found some great sales. Mark was so sweet and let me buy 4 pairs of shoes! Let the Fall begin!

Facebook vs a blog

Well, I have been a happy user of facebook for almost a year now and what do they go and decide to do? Change their whole layout! So I have tried out the "new" facebook and do not like it so it appears that keeping a blog has won although I am sure I will still check out facebook every now and then because its such a fun way to keep in touch with people. It seems that it would have made the most sense for us to start a blog when we were in Egypt and experiencing all kinds of new and crazy things but we are just a little bit slow. Now you will get to read all about our calm happy life in beautiful Colorado.
